Explainer & Information Video Production in Stockholm
Storyboard Film produces explainer and information videos in Stockholm for companies, public organisations and institutions that need to make a message clear, understandable and engaging. We can handle the entire process – from research, concept and script development to filming, graphics, editing and final delivery.
A good information video is not about including as much information as possible. It is about identifying what matters, creating a clear structure and using people, images, graphics and storytelling to make complex subjects easier to understand and remember.
Explainer & Information Video Examples:
When Is an Explainer or Information Video the Right Format?
Explainer and information videos are useful when something needs to be communicated more clearly than text or still images can achieve on their own. This might involve explaining an organisation, service or process, communicating research or public information, introducing a new way of working or helping an audience understand how something works.
The format can range from interview-based films and documentary-style storytelling to more scripted productions where graphics, demonstrations and visual examples help explain the subject.
The most important starting point is the audience: What do they need to understand, what can be simplified and what should they know or be able to do after watching the film?
Making Complex Information Easy to Understand
Many information videos begin with a large amount of material – reports, presentations, research, technical facts or knowledge held by different subject-matter experts.
An important part of our work is therefore to identify the core message together with the client and turn the information into a story that works as film.
We help structure the content, develop scripts and interview questions, and decide what needs to be explained in words and what can be communicated more effectively through images, graphics or practical examples. When accuracy is critical, we work closely with the client’s experts throughout the process so that the film remains both correct and easy to understand.
How We Produce Explainer and Information Videos
Audience and Objectives
We start by defining who the film needs to reach, what the audience already knows and what the communication needs to achieve – for example greater understanding, new knowledge or a change in behaviour.
Content and Story Structure
Together with the client, we review the available information, identify the most important points and develop a structure for the script, interviews and visual storytelling.
Pre-production
We plan contributors, locations, graphics, shooting schedules and the resources needed to communicate the subject clearly while keeping the production efficient.
Filming
The production setup is adapted to the project – from interviews and documentary footage with a compact crew to larger productions involving several locations, contributors and more extensive lighting and camera work.
Editing and Delivery
In post-production, we combine interviews, images, graphics, music and sound into a clear and engaging story. When required, we can also produce shorter edits, subtitles, language versions and formats adapted for different platforms.
Explainer Video, Educational Video or Corporate Video?
The boundaries between different types of video are not always clear. An explainer or information video is primarily designed to create understanding. An educational video usually goes further and helps the viewer learn or perform something, while a corporate video often focuses more on the organisation, its people or its brand.
We therefore start with the communication problem rather than what the film should be called. From there, we recommend the format that best suits the audience, message and channel.
How Much Does an Explainer or Information Video Cost?
The cost depends on the complexity of the subject, how much research and script development is required, the number of shooting days and locations, contributors, graphics and the amount of post-production.
An interview-based information video can often be produced with a compact setup, while a subject that requires dramatisation, several environments or extensive visualisation naturally requires more resources.
If you already have a budget range, we can recommend a production approach that prioritises the elements that make the greatest difference to understanding and to the finished film.
Selected Explainer & Information Video Cases
INFORMATION VIDEO – KAROLINSKA INSTITUTET
How do you make complex research understandable to an international audience without simplifying away its credibility?
For Karolinska Institutet, we produced an English-language film about long-term collaboration between academia and industry and how research can be translated into practical benefits for patients and society.
The challenge was to communicate a complex subject to a professional and critical international audience. We therefore developed a narrative around researchers and contributors with complementary perspectives, using interview questions that moved from concrete facts and outcomes towards more personal reflections.
The aim was to establish credibility first while still creating a film that felt human and engaging. Interviews in real research and clinical environments were combined with visual storytelling, music and a clear narrative structure to make an advanced subject accessible without making it simplistic.

INFORMATION VIDEO – ÖSTERÅKER MUNICIPALITY
How do you communicate the value of a public service without making the film feel like institutional communication?
For Österåker Municipality, we created a film about its youth services and the people who make them work.
The objective was to show what participation, learning and safety actually mean in everyday life – through the experiences of the young people themselves as well as the perspectives of the adults working with them.
We built the film around authentic interviews and real situations within the organisation. The contributors spoke in their own words, while interviews were combined with footage of activities, meetings and interactions between young people and adults.
In the edit, voices, observational footage and music were shaped into a story that both explains the organisation and communicates the sense of trust, community and pride surrounding it.
The project was produced as both a longer film and a shorter version for social media.

INFORMATION VIDEO – KAROLINSKA INSTITUTET
How do you attract the right audience to advanced education without making the film feel like traditional recruitment advertising?
When Karolinska Institutet launched a new master’s programme in biomedical laboratory science, the film needed both to explain the programme and encourage already qualified biomedical scientists to consider further education.
We selected three contributors with complementary perspectives and built the story through interviews rather than scripted statements. Carefully developed questions allowed each person to speak naturally in their own words, while the answers were shaped into a coherent story during editing.
The interviews were combined with carefully lit footage from Karolinska Institutet’s laboratories and working environments, together with music and sound, to create both understanding and emotional engagement.
The production was delivered as both a longer version and shorter formats adapted for different digital channels.
